SLEX Calamba-Sto. Tomas Now Open

The SLEX extension or the Toll Road 3 is now open to motorists. The 7.3 kilometers Calamba-Sto. Tomas road extension connects the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road Tollway (STAR Tollway).

Had an opportunity to drive thru the newly opened road and was amazed with the time saved. Well, I guess that I have saved at least an hour in travel time by deviating from the Maharlika Highway. In just a number of minutes, I hit the Lipa City exit.

This means that travelers going to Batangas, will save at least 30 minutes to an hour of travel time. Moreover save you big time on your gasoline expenses. And will see more improvement, as the SKYWAY is nearing its completion by the second quarter of 2011.

Another advantage in taking the SLEX extension, it would save motorist three kilometers of driving as against using the old and congested Maharlika Highway.

Best of all the use of Toll Road 3 is free. But, it will only be until the Toll Regulatory Board release its approved toll rates. Given the go signal, its time for the investors to have their share.

Sorry guys you have to pay for the convenience. For me, it’s okay as long as the motorist gets no traffic and good roads; which means less gas and limited vehicle maintenance.

The SLEX proposed rate for cars and jeepneys is P3.02 per kilometer, P6.05 for buses and light trucks, and P9.07 for heavy trucks.

The new Toll Road 3 has an estimated daily traffic of 30,000 vehicles.
